When did your journey begin, and how did you fall in love with flow arts?
Poi constantly reminds me to stay mindful and meet myself where I’m at. Slowing down has always been difficult for me, but flow arts taught me how. They create a unique space for creativity, self-expression, and meaningful connection while keeping me fully present in the moment.
How would you describe yourself now that flow arts are integral to your lifestyle?
Flow arts have helped shape me into a more expressive, mindful, and confident person. They’ve taught me patience, discipline, and how to stay present in the moment. I feel more connected to myself physically, mentally, and creatively, while also introducing me to incredible friendships and a community I genuinely value. As someone involved in yoga, massage therapy, and movement practices, flow arts became another extension of how I express healing, movement, and intention. Working with double props especially reminded me that I’m capable of movements and coordination I never would have imagined learning before.
Who or what inspires your flow practice and style?
Music is probably my biggest inspiration. Different genres completely change the way I move and interpret flow. I’m also inspired by other flow artists who blend storytelling, musicality, and emotion into their movement. Beyond that, yoga and movement science influence my style a lot — focusing on fluidity, body awareness, and intentional movement rather than just tricks.
Has the flow arts community impacted your life and supported your creative growth?
Absolutely. The flow community has been one of the most welcoming and inspiring groups of people I’ve ever been around. Being part of communities like Space City Flows and connecting with artists online and at festivals pushed me to grow creatively and keep improving. The support, encouragement, and shared passion in this community make it feel like family. Seeing others innovate and express themselves motivates me to keep evolving my own style.
What aspects of flow arts are most meaningful to you, and what drives your passion?
The most meaningful part for me is the ability to create connection with myself, with music, and with others. Flow arts can bring people together regardless of background, and I love how everyone develops their own unique style. What drives my passion is the endless room for growth. There’s always a new concept to explore, a new transition to unlock, or a new way to express emotion through movement.
How do you personally define flow state, and what does it mean to you?
To me, flow state is when everything becomes effortless and fully present. It’s the moment where your mind quiets down and your body moves naturally with the music without overthinking. When I reach that state while spinning, it feels freeing, therapeutic, and almost meditative. Time disappears and it becomes pure expression and connection to the moment.
Anything else you’d like to share with the community?
Right now I’m continuing to grow my presence in the flow community through social media content, performances, and community events. I’m also blending my background in yoga and massage therapy with flow arts to better understand movement, recovery, and body mechanics. My goal is to keep inspiring others to explore movement creatively and to show how flow arts can positively impact mental health, confidence, and self-expression.
